One Direction - One Thing

"One Thing" is a song by English-Irish boy band One Direction from their debut studio album Up All Night (2011). It was released as their second single on 6 January 2012 in various European countries and in the UK as their third single on 12 February 2012. The song also served as the band's second single in the United States being sent to US radio formats on 22 May 2012. Written by Rami YacoubCarl Falk and Savan Kotecha, and produced by Yacoub and Kotecha, "One Thing" is an uptempo pop rock song, with its instrumentation including guitar strings, piano lines and vocals. "One Thing" received positive reviews from music critics, who generally commended its abrasive chorus, catchy melody and guitar riff. "One Thing" reached the top ten on the AustralianUKScottish and the Irish Singles Charts, while reaching the top forty on the New Zealand Singles Chart, Flanders Ultratop 50Canadian Hot 100, and the United States Billboard Hot 100.
The song has been certified gold, platinum, and quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of New Zealand (RIANZ), the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) respectively, denoting collective sales of 1,217,500 copies. The music video for "One Thing" was directed by Declan Whitebloom and premiered on 13 January 2012, and depicts One Direction performing in and around London, including on the top of a bus, on a set of park steps and in front of a group of buskers. It was complimented for its simplistic nature and has received over 160 million hits on the website YouTube. The group have performed the song live on television shows, including on the British Dancing on Ice and on the AmericanToday at the Rockefeller Center, as well as being performed on their first headlining concert tour, the Up All Night Tour (2011–12).
